After ‘difficult times,’ including erratic behavior, a disheveled appearance, and reports that he looked like a ‘ghost’ on stage, Justin Bieber‘s family is facing new challenges. These come as Bieber’s sister-in-law, Alaia Baldwin Aronow, is now charged with misdemeanor assault charges in Georgia.
According to the police report viewed by Page Six, in Feb. 2024, police arrested Aronow—sister of Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber—following an alleged altercation at Club Elan in Savannah, Georgia. Authorities say staff asked Aronow to leave the establishment after she became disruptive, but she allegedly escalated the situation instead.
As Page Six first reported, security footage showed Aronow “forcing her way” into a locked employee bathroom. A bartender told police Aronow said she needed a few minutes inside the restroom. Moments later, according to the report, she allegedly threw a used tampon at the employee when confronted.
The situation intensified when security staff attempted to remove her from the club. According to the police report, Aronow allegedly grabbed a bouncer’s hair. The report also says she struck another in the genitals. Then she resisted security guards as they escorted her out of the building.
At the time, Aronow initially denied some of the allegations. She later acknowledged she threw the tampon, according to the report. She told authorities she was “defending herself.”
While the incident occurred in February 2024, prosecutors formally brought charges against Aronow in January 2026. According to court documents cited by Page Six, she now faces four misdemeanor charges: simple battery, simple assault, battery, and criminal trespass. If convicted on the battery charge, she could face up to one year in jail under Georgia law. Her arraignment is scheduled for April 23, and the case remains active as it moves through the court system.
Bieber stays focused for first Grammy appearance since 2022
With all that likely on his mind, Bieber is preparing to attend the Grammy Awards after what insiders described as an “extremely tough” year, according to The U.S. Sun. The outlet reported that the singer, now 31, earned nominations for his album Swag and tracks including “Daisies” and “Yukon,” his first new music and Grammy nominations in several years.
A source told the outlet, “He feels extremely grateful to be nominated in multiple categories and to receive so much love from industry leaders and fans. After such difficult times, that love means a lot to him.”
The insider added that Bieber is determined to “truly enjoy the night” after years of avoiding major red carpet events. He last attended the Grammys in 2022, his last major public appearance before largely stepping back from the spotlight.
Throughout the past year, fans have noted Bieber’s appearance and behavior in public. Photos circulated online showing him looking unshaven and withdrawn, while reports from insiders at a SoFi Stadium performance last May claimed he appeared “disconnected,” “erratic,” and “not fully himself” backstage.
The Grammy nominations represent a turning point. According to The U.S. Sun, Bieber has received messages of support from fellow artists he had not heard from in years, which reportedly helped boost his morale.
Bieber has previously been open about his health struggles. In 2022, he revealed a Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, a rare neurological disorder that caused partial facial paralysis and forced him to cancel tour dates. He later shared updates with fans showing gradual recovery but admitted the experience took a toll on him physically and emotionally.
Now, as Bieber steps back onto one of music’s biggest stages, his extended family’s legal trouble adds unexpected stress to the celebration. With Aronow’s case now formally charged and still pending in Georgia, and Bieber attempting to regain his footing in the public eye, the family finds itself navigating simultaneous personal and professional challenges.
