Forget the MCU, Nebula is taking that awkward pose into the ‘Barbie’ world

Karen Gillan has found a new use for her awkward Nebula pose with a crossover that could potentially be epic.

We love a little bit of self-referential humor when people are able to laugh at themselves, especially if those people are celebrities in the public eye. One such person is MCU star Karen Gillan, who, unlike the character she plays, Nebula, is very much able to laugh at herself, which she does as she jokingly uses her awkward Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 poster pose to parody the new Barbie posters.

Gillan was mocked mercilessly online for the pose she struck for the international poster for her upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie. The actress herself took to TikTok to share her own bemusement at the choice, saying, “Can anyone out there tell me what I was thinking when I decided to pose like this on an international, worldwide poster that will remain forevermore?” The actress then said that perhaps she would double down on it to really try to make it a thing, and she has already stuck true to her word.

With the recent release of a new trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie also came some character posters, featuring various characters on shiny glitter stickers with captions such as “This Barbie has a Nobel Prize in physics,” or “This Barbie is a diplomat.” This campaign is already being parodied on the internet as everyone jumps aboard the hype train and Gillan is utilizing it to really cement that pose and promote her own film.

As well as the title for the next MCU film splashed across it, along with the film’s release date below, Gillan has added her own caption for Nebula, “This Barbie is a cyborg.” We have no idea what would happen if Nebula ever did meet Barbie, but we’re sure that would be a very interesting crossover indeed.
