‘I was the one that actually kept the secret, let’s end that myth’: Tom Holland on ‘No Way Home’ spoilers

Barring that Graham Norton appearance, of course.

Tom Holland has worked up a reputation as the prodigal MCU son who always needs a supervisor in promo campaigns, lest he spoil a major plot point without really meaning to, but the actor is looking to redeem his image by pointing out this overlooked fact about Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The Spidey threequel was one of the biggest Marvel movies in history, not least of all due to the number of insane cameo appearances. Most importantly, Disney and Sony did everything in their power to stop the fandom from learning about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but if Holland has anything to say on the matter, the two couldn’t be bothered to hide the fact, be it from delivery people or just spilling the beans while you’re shopping at the market.

“To be perfectly honest with you, I was actually the best at keeping secrets on that third movie,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Andrew got caught ordering from a Deliveroo guy. Tobey got caught, somehow. Alfred Molina was telling people in the supermarket that he was doing the new Spider-Man. Willem Dafoe got photographed at the airport. So, I was the one that actually kept the secret. Let’s end that myth.”

Of course, Holland is conveniently forgetting about a certain interview during the promotional tour, where he almost let the cat out of the bag discussing that Zendaya scene with Andrew Garfield. But sure, considering all the things that he’s nonchalantly put out there since joining the franchise in 2016, we can definitely go easy on him with this one.

According to the latest reports, Holland is definitely returning for a fourth Spider-Man installment when his break from acting is over, but with everything going on in the MCU and Hollywood at large — particularly concerning the ongoing Writers Guild strike — that could be a long while away.
