Ice Spice rocking a Barbie/mermaid look at the BET Awards will make you re-think your religion

Ice Spice ate it up at the 2023 BET Awards last night when she showed up in a sheer black lingerie-style gown and butt-length straight hair.

Rapper Ice Spice turned it up at the BET Awards last night when she arrived in the most stunning of gowns. Last night marked the 23rd BET Awards since they started back in 2001 to recognize and celebrate Black talent and other minorities that are crushing it in music and entertainment industry more broadly. It’s no surprise that Ice Spice was not just in attendance, but also performing, given her meteoric rise to fame.

The artist rocked up to the awards dressed in a sheer Dolce & Gabanna lingerie-esque gown, with corset paneling and mermaid skirt. Her patent ginger locks, usually in a short face-framing afro, were straightened way down her back, with a middle parting and her baby hairs swooped. She finished off the look with some sparkling accessories, including a cross necklace and bedazzled nails.

The look is really giving us throwback vibes to the ’00s which are, as all decades do, having a revival in the fashion world right now. The artist has often embodied this decade in her style, with low-rise jeans and mesh tops but giving it a more current twist.

Ice Spice gave quite the performance as well, wowing the audience with her tracks “Munch,” “Princess Diana,” and “In Ma Hood” on a stage that was made to look like her stomping ground growing up, the Bronx complete with a bodega storefront, a basketball court, and a subway.

She has truly been living her best life, having just released her EP Like..? in January, teamed up with Nicki Minaj for a Barbie soundtrack cut, and also worked with Taylor Swift for a remix of the song ‘Karma’ from her Midnights album. She isn’t stopping there as she will be joining Doja Cat on her Scarlet Tour in November and December this year. Ice Spice was nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best Collaboration for her work on PinkPantheress’ “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” though she lost out on all of these.
