Is Luke Evans related to Chris Evans?

Are Hollywood's two most famous Evanses part of the same family?

Happy birthday, Chris Evans! The beloved star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not to mention various other hit movies like Knives Out, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Fantastic Four, celebrates the anniversary of his birth on June 13, with the actor turning 41 in 2023. Evans is already in something of a loose showbiz family, as one quarter of the Four Hollywood Chrises, but is he actually related to another famous Evans?

I speak, of course, about Luke Evans. The talented actor and singer got his start in musical theater before exploding onto the big screen over the past decade or so in such films as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Fast & Furious 6, and The Hobbit trilogy. Although the two stars have yet to appear in a movie together, pictorial evidence suggests they have moved in the same social circles. But do they also share a table at Thanksgiving?

Are Chris Evans and Luke Evans part of the same Evans clan?

I hate to break it to you, but alas no, Chris and Luke Evans are not related to each other in any way, shape, or form. The Evans surname is a very popular one in English-speaking countries and the two actors do not share any close familial ties that we are aware of, despite their matching monikers and chosen career paths.

In fact, both stars originate from entirely different countries.. and continents! As you would guess about the guy most known as Captain America, Chris Evans is American born and bred and hails from Boston, Massachusetts. Luke Evans, meanwhile, was born on April 19, 1979, which happened to be Easter Sunday, in Pontypool, a town in Monmouthshire, South Wales. He was raised in Aberbargoed, Caerphilly, also in Wales. At 44, he’s three years older than Chris.

While Chris and Luke are not siblings, the former does have a brother in the acting profession. His younger brother Scott Evans (39) got his big break in soap opera One Life to Live from 2008-10 and has more recently been seen in the likes of Grace & Frankie. He’s shortly set to appear as a Ken in the much-hyped Barbie movie. Luke, meanwhile, is an only child.
