Jamie Foxx still recovering as friends and family visit rehab facility

Still no official word on what he's dealing with.

Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx is still recovering from an unspecified illness, but he seems to be getting better, and a few friends and family recently visited him in a rehabilitation facility.

TMZ recently captured photos of Foxx’s daughter Corinne and Foxx’s close friend Dave Brown visiting Foxx at the facility in Chicago over the weekend. Foxx was recently transferred to the new place after being sent to the hospital in Atlanta during the filming of Back in Action, with Glenn Close and Cameron Diaz.

His treatment plan is unknown but the facility helps people who need to be rehabbed after strokes, spinal injuries and cancer, although there is no indication just yet that he is dealing with any of those things. Foxx hasn’t been seen since being admitted into the hospital, and he missed a recent taping of the show Beat Shazam, which Nick Cannon has since taken over.

The hospital stay could potentially affect other upcoming Foxx projects, like the Mike Tyson biopic he’s been planning for a while now. Tyson recently talked about what the health scare means to the project. He appeared on the Valuetainment podcast and said he wasn’t sure what was going to happen with the proposed film now.

“Well, it was a possibility. I don’t know what’s going to happen now. But, you know, it’s a strong possibility. Because, you know, Jamie’s closer to my age, so in order to do him, they were going to do what they did with [the movie] Benjamin Button. They were going to make him look younger.”

The movie’s been in the works since 2015. In 2020, Foxx told Movieweb that he was training hard for the role.

“We’re doing weighted pull ups to sort of make the back look the right way, and make the arm look a certain way,” he said.  “But it is, to me, I guarantee you, it’s the most dedicated I’ve been to making sure that this story gets told, and gets told in the right way. And I joke with Mike. I said, ‘When I get dressed up as you, I’m going to walk into your house, and your kids are going to say daddy’s home.'”

Since there is no official diagnosis, rumors are rampant about what’s going on with the actor. Many are claiming he is “gravely ill.” However, earlier this month, his daughter said her father was at home recuperating and even playing sports.

“Sad to see how the media runs wild,” she said. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”

Whether or not his condition is worse or better as of Monday remains to be seen. Get better soon Jamie! I think we all want to see you play Mike Tyson.
