Kim Kardashian’s prison reform success is a thing of the past as she dares to call out Donald Trump

She's only just starting to question Trump?

After a period of successful collaboration with the White House on criminal justice reform, Kim Kardashian is now finding herself in a public disagreement with President Donald Trump. Her past work, which included assisting in the commutation of Alice Marie Johnson’s sentence and advocating for pardons in other cases, established her as a key figure in the reform movement. This advocacy even inspired her to pursue a legal education.

Still, her recent comments on immigration have created a new dynamic, shifting the focus from her accomplishments to a potential rift with the administration. According to TMZ, During an event in Venice, Italy, where she received an award for her work, Kardashian addressed a question about the ongoing ICE raids across the United States.

Kim Kardashian said, “In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country.’ But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected. People I know. People my friends know.”

Kim Kardashian is now facing Trump for daring to question ICE

Kardashian continued, “You want to believe that there’s a powerful message in protection, but then you see that it’s not really happening like that … it’s really tough, but I think that we have to do what we can to protect the people that have really supported and built our country.”

This public stance on immigration elicited a sharp rebuke from the White House. The Deputy Press Secretary responded, “President Trump is fulfilling his promise to the American people to deport criminal illegal aliens and Make America Safe Again — no matter what elite Hollywood celebrities have to say about it.”

Despite this public friction, Kim Kardashian remains committed to her advocacy. She expressed a desire to return to the White House to continue her work on prison reform and to champion the rights of those she supports, regardless of who holds the presidency. Her dedication to this cause is so profound that it led her to enroll in law school. Just last month, she took the California bar exam and is currently awaiting her results, a testament to her deepening involvement in the legal and justice systems.

While her previous efforts with the administration were highly effective in specific cases of criminal justice reform, her recent critique of a major administration policy may bring in a new challenge. The public exchange highlights the ideological differences between the two, which were previously overshadowed by their shared goals in criminal justice.

It remains to be seen if Kim Kardashian’s sway is strong enough to prompt a policy change on immigration, or if her prison reform success is a thing of the past since she dared to call out the President. Trump has a bad habit of using revenge tactics, so we’ll have to wait and see.
