Latest DC News: Vincent D’Onofrio says he’s on board to play ‘Swamp Thing’ as Dwayne Johnson’s ego grows large enough to black out the sun

How many characters can one man play before the a movie becomes a vanity project? According to Dwayne Johnson, its more than three.

Vincent D’Onofrio has taken to Twitter to express his enthusiasm for a potential role in the upcoming Swamp Thing movie. The Full Metal Jacket actor may have even gotten James Gunn to take notice of his willingness to leave the Marvel Universe and take up residence in the DCU. While D’Onofrio, with his extensive acting skills, hasn’t landed a single position in the universe, some fans are questioning how Dwayne Johnson has landed so many. And finally, Donald Trump Junior proves just how far out of touch he is by besmirching Superman’s good name by comparing the Man of Steel to a 21-year-old leaker of military secrets.

After several years of dealing with Donald Trump and his plethora of Stepford-children, there aren’t many things that the former first family says or does that still surprise most of us state side. Of course, there are exceptions to this, and Donald Trump Jr. is asserting one hell of a controversial hot take on Twitter by insinuating that the 21-year-old military leak, Jack Teixeira, is somehow on par with Superman. The eldest of Trump’s children must have forgotten the years of service Superman put in during WW2 as propagandic arm of the U.S. military, and that leaking Pentagon documents to a foreign power — especially longtime rival Russia — is not exactly something a service member should be lauded for. It does make one wonder what sort of perverse version of other classic supers the delusional Trump has banging around in his empty skull, but we’re pretty sure nobody wants to go there.

Former Daredevil show stealer Vincent D’Onofrio has revealed he’s down to switch teams. The actor retweeted an article from CBR that detailed how perfect he would be for the role of Swamp Thing in the upcoming film. As soon as D’Onofrio signaled his willingness, his fans flocked to Twitter to gush over the potential and offer support. Just when it seemed the hype had reached its fever pitch, James Gunn pushed fans over the edge by simply liking the post. With his hulking physique and impressive acting chops, D’Onofrio really would be a perfect fit for the leading role in Swamp Thing, and with the titular role still unfilled perhaps the exchange has opened Gunn’s mind to the possibility.

Dwayne Johnson’s ego is getting a little out of hand

With the official death of the Black Adam franchise on the heels of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s take over of the DCEU, fans are starting to realize they may have received an unforeseen boon with the actor’s departure from the cinematic universe. One keen Reddit user shared a moment from the animated DC League of Super-Pets that depicts Krypto (voiced by Johnson) talking to Black Adam’s dog, Anubis (also voiced by Johnson). If playing two characters in the same scene wasn’t enough, the Moana actor took it one step further, also reprising his role as Black Adam during the sequence. While you can’t blame actors for studio decisions, Johnson also produced the animated feature, so there’s no doubt there was some point along the way he could have taken a moment to check that decision. Let’s hope the result boiled down to Johnson trying to try out a new vocal range rather than stoking his own ego.
