Singer Lizzo has spoken openly about recent rumors concerning her noticeable weight loss, firmly stating that she did not use weight-loss drugs like Ozempic. Instead, she says her success comes from a combination of changes to her diet, adjustments to her daily habits, and paying more attention to her mental health.
As found by People, Lizzo has shared details about her journey in TikTok Live sessions and on social media, explaining that her approach was carefully planned and tailored to her personal needs, focusing on both her physical and emotional well-being.
Lizzo said, “I do something sweet. It’s gotta be with some sort of like carb. I’ll have like almond butter and toast. So, everybody’s body is different. Find out what works for you… calories in versus calories out.”
Lizzo gives detailed explanation of how she lost weight
One major factor in Lizzo’s transformation was cutting back heavily on sugary drinks. She had previously shared that she drank two to three large Starbucks beverages daily, adding up to around 1200 calories. By completely stopping these drinks, as well as cutting out coffee, she significantly reduced her calorie intake, which helped with her weight loss.
This change also seemed to help calm her nervous system, suggesting that her diet played a role in managing her anxiety. She said, “I loved to distract myself with people. I loved to distract myself with food. I loved to distract myself with drinking… I loved to distract myself with problems that I would create. I would love to do that. And I stopped doing that…And I just focused on me.”
Along with drinking fewer sugary beverages, Lizzo changed what she ate for breakfast, choosing savory foods instead of sweet ones. This shift shows she was making a deliberate effort to control her calories and eat less sugar. She gave examples of her new breakfast choices, such as almond butter on toast.
While she didn’t share a full meal plan, she posted a TikTok video showing one of her healthy meals, which included bison meatballs with rice, peas, and cabbage. Lizzo admitted that she used calorie counting as a temporary tool, not a long-term lifestyle, to help her eat fewer calories than she burned.
All of these changes led to a major weight loss. Lizzo announced in January that she had reached her weight loss goal. She shared that she had lowered her body mass index by 10.5 points and reduced her body fat by 16 percent, per US Magazine.
By focusing on her own well-being, she found healthier ways to handle stress and anxiety, which ultimately supported her weight loss journey. She hit this important milestone, reaching her lowest weight since 2014, after two years of working toward intentional weight loss.
