‘My parents did not raise a quitter’: Selena Gomez joins in on the viral trend

Procrastination is something we all grapple with sooner or later!

Actress, singer, and entrepreneur Selena Gomez has recently proven she is just like everybody else by seemingly acknowledging one of her biggest flaws in TikTok‘s latest viral trend.

For context, the 30-year-old, who has been involved in the entertainment industry for over two decades, participated in the “my parents did not raise a quitter” challenge. In this trend, people are escaping their responsibilities by blaming it on procrastination. The origin of “my parents did not raise a quitter” challenge began in 2022 when TikTok user Jim Rossington uploaded a video on the social media platform explaining why he doesn’t see himself completing his tasks in the near future:

“My parents did not raise a quitter but they did raise a procrastinator. I have a lot to do and I’m not going to do it.”

Since then, the post –which ultimately went viral– generated over one million views, earned more than 270,000 likes, and the sound has been used in countless videos. Rossington’s sound began generating buzz recently when Gomez used it in her upload on July 11. In the clip, Gomez, who appears to be working on an undisclosed project, is seen mouthing the words Rossington said in his viral post as she lounges around on set.

As the upload began circulating online, many of Gomez’s fans had plenty to say regarding the situation.

One individual attempted to encourage the “Look At Her Now” vocalist by sending some kind words.

“You can do it!”

At the same time, another TikTok user claimed they could relate to not getting any work done.

“I can relate to this so well.. I get things done… eventually.”

On the other hand, a third person brought up that Gomez’s procrastination could be why she hasn’t released a full-length album since 2020.

“Which explains why we’re waiting so long for the new music. Understood.”

Lastly, another social media user echoed a similar sentiment about Gomez not releasing a studio album in over three years and expressed that fans have patiently waited long enough.

“Sis just drop the new album we have been patient enough.”

Although Gomez has yet to comment on when she plans to release a new album, she did, however, mention last month via Instagram that she is currently working on new music by uploading behind-the-scene images from a Paris recording studio:

“Don’t worry guys, it’s coming. Even from Paris.”

At this time, no additional details regarding Gomez’s new album has been released to the public.
