Nicolas Cage would love to play an undead DC antihero, so let’s hope James Gunn is listening

There's not a single soul who would disapprove.

Having experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows that the superhero genre has to offer – ranging from the infamously unmade Superman Lives to the acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse via the diabolical Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance – you could understand if Nicolas Cage was ever feeling a little reticent to return to the comic book fray.

However, he also happens to be the most famous aficionado of the artform in Hollywood – one that’s currently riding a wave of momentum he hasn’t experienced for well over a decade – so there’s no reason why his interest wouldn’t or couldn’t be piqued again. He may have dismissed the notion of appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to the fact he’s Nic Cage, but could he be tempted by James Gunn’s DCU?

If he can, then there’s a perfect candidate staring the new co-CEO square in the face, after the Academy Award winner admitted during a recent Reddit AMA that he’s got a soft spot for undead antihero Spectre when asked if there were any other ghostly characters he’d want to play after putting on the corpse paint as Renfield‘s Dracula.

Anyone in their right mind would love nothing more than to see Nic Cage swing by another superhero franchise as a virtually invincible antihero driven by an unquenchable thirst for vengeance. As much as we’d love to see it happen, though, the chances of the walking meme being granted the opportunity to fulfill his dream probably isn’t going to come to fruition, but best keep those fingers crossed just in case.
