Orlando Bloom invites total chaos after posing with ‘tacky’ actress dressed as his ex Katy Perry only weeks after the split

This is just distasteful.

Orlando Bloom has invited widespread chaos after posing for a Halloween photo with actress Rachel Lynn Matthews, who was dressed as his ex, Katy Perry. The images, which Matthews shared to her Instagram Story, quickly circulated online, leaving fans questioning the actor’s judgment. Honestly, you’ve got to think about the optics here, especially considering the recent breakup.

Matthews, who you probably recognize from the movie Happy Death Day, rocked a shiny blue jumpsuit and a dark wig for the look. This wasn’t just any old Perry costume, either. It was specifically designed to echo the outfit Perry wore earlier this year when she took part in the all-woman Blue Origin space tourism flight. Bloom, meanwhile, wore skull face paint, standing close to Matthews in the widely shared pictures, as found by Daily Dot.

The costume itself was already a top-tier reference, but Matthews doubled down on the commitment. In another photo shared on Instagram, she appeared to mimic the singer by kissing the floor, which Perry notoriously did after landing back on Earth following her space trip. Matthews captioned the post with the text “TAKE UP SPACE!!!” This level of detail makes the costume feel super intentional, which is why the internet reacted so strongly.

This should have been an immediate ‘no’ from Bloom

It’s understandable why this situation feels so awkward. Perry and Bloom ended their relationship back in June 2025. Right around that same time, Perry dropped a breakup track that many fans instantly linked to their split. If that wasn’t enough, she soon began dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Given all that recent history, posing with someone dressed as the mother of your child just weeks later looks messy, and I’d say that’s putting it mildly.

The images spread like wildfire across social media platforms, with most folks agreeing the move was strange, if not downright “tacky.” While a few people admitted that the whole situation bordered on darkly funny celebrity chaos, the general consensus was that this was a step too far.

One user, ilove_butter89, summed up the sentiment perfectly, writing, “It feels really tacky.” Which, definitely, is super tacky. However, Bloom may just not have been thinking straight.

Matthews might just be friends with Bloom, sharing photos of the actress with a man named Will Erwin, whom they claimed is her current boyfriend. We can’t independently confirm that relationship, but it does add fuel to the fire that this was just a casual run-in. Regardless of the intent, the timing of these pictures ensures they’re going to keep the gossip mill running for a while. You can’t expect the internet to ignore this kind of celebrity drama.
