An end of an era. Popular YouTuber Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg recently announced his temporary departure from the platform as he and his wife Marzia Kjellberg eagerly prepare for the next chapter in their lives. For context, Felix (whose decade-long YouTube career of uploading vlogs and gaming content, ultimately earned him 111 million subscribers and billions of views) and his wife of almost four years are expecting their first child.
Although it is unclear how far along Marzia is in her pregnancy, the 33-year-old took to YouTube on June 29 to share that because his wife’s due date is quickly approaching, he is unsure if he will have time to upload videos on the platform after the baby arrives and because of that he felt it would be best to step away for a while.
“Just wanted to say, it’s getting very close now. Very close to becoming a dad. I’m very, very, very excited. I don’t know what it’s gonna be like. I don’t know if I’ll have time to make videos. Is it gonna be chaos? I don’t know. But I imagine I won’t upload for a while. So, just wanted to say thank you for all the support in these vlogs. We’re so happy you guys have enjoyed them and we can share a bit of our life here. But I think, for now, we might take a little break until we come back again”
Even though Felix has since retired from regularly posting gaming content on his channel and switched over to occasionally sharing vlogs to update his fans on what is going on in his life, when the news about the YouTuber’s decision to take a break began circulating on Twitter, many couldn’t contain their emotions.
One individual recalled past gaming videos of Felix screaming and claimed how happy they are to see him grow up and become a father.
At the same time, another Twitter user sent their best wishes to Felix and Marzia.
A third person explained that this break was overdue for Felix because, for so long, he has been “part of the reason” for everyone’s joy thanks to his light-hearted content.
Lastly, another social media user explained that although they expected Felix to take a break from YouTube because of the new changes in his life, they weren’t ready to say goodbye.
At this time, it is unclear when Felix will make his triumphant return to YouTube, but when he does his fans will gladly accept him back on the platform.
