Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl half-time performance was polarizing to say the least. While a vast majority of viewers enjoyed the show despite maybe not understanding it, many (mostly from the MAGA side) took issue with the fact the song was sung in Spanish rather than English. One of these people was former Real Housewives of New York star, Jill Zarin, unfortunately for her, her reaction cost her a job.
Following Bad Bunny’s show, Zarin recorded herself complaining about the singer and shared it online. Her reaction didn’t quite get the response she was likely hoping for as it turns out she was in the minority. “It was the worst half-time show ever,” she stated in a clip posted to her Instagram story, “I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.”
The reality show star went on to criticize Bad Bunny for grabbing his “G area,” as well as calling out the lack of white people in the show. While she assumed it was a political statement she tried her best to refrain from taking a side, but her attitude in the video kind of suggests she’s already taken one.
She finished off her video by accusing the NFL of selling out and firing a few shots at Lady Gaga just to round it all off.
The response to Jill Zarin was brutal
Zarin was quickly called out for her “vile” criticism of Bad Bunny online. One individual on X pointed out the hypocrisy of MAGA not criticizing “their hero Kid Rock grabbing his crotch during the sacred holy TPUSA show. Or Trump simulating oral s*x with a microphone on stage.” Another pointed out that her criticism over there being no white people was contradicted by Lady Gaga being there.
But by far the biggest consequence of Zarin’s little social media tantrum was her being fired from an upcoming show. According to an article from the Daily Mail, Jill Zarin was fired from E!’s upcoming Real Housewives of New York reunion docuseries.
The show had yet to begin filming but it would have seen Zarin reunite with former RHONY castmates, but producers chose not to bring her back due to her rant. The studio responsible for the reunion explained why she would not be returning in a statement released to the Daily Mail.
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
Responding to her firing, Zarin claimed she wasn’t given the chance to “rectify” the issue, although she did not apologize for her previous comments.
