Rob Reiner’s daughter found her parents dead, allegedly pointed at ‘dangerous’ family member – is she the reason her brother is in jail?

Nick Reiner is now a suspect in his parents' death.

The legendary actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were tragically slain in their Brentwood home on Sunday. The news is even more shocking because the couple’s son, Nick, is currently in law enforcement custody in connection with the deaths. What is surprising is how Nick may have gotten there.

TMZ reported that the deceased couple was discovered inside their Los Angeles area home by one of their daughters, Tracy Reiner. Tracy is Rob’s adopted daughter from his first marriage to the late Penny Marshall. Apparently, sources close to the investigation have revealed that when Tracy found the gruesome scene, she immediately alerted authorities and provided key information. She reportedly told officers that a family member may have committed the killing and insisted that this individual needed to be considered a suspect because they were “dangerous.”

I would say the biggest problem here is the sheer trauma of having to identify a family member as the person responsible for such a violent crime. This is a truly awful detail for the entire family to have to process, if true. While TMZ didn’t give a source, it seems like there was confidence in these turn of events.

The Reiners’ corpses may have been found by their own daughter

Rob Reiner was 78 years old, and his wife Michele was 68. TMZ claims that both victims suffered lacerations consistent with knife wounds. Due to the severity and nature of the incident, the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division has taken over the investigation. The couple’s son was taken into custody for questioning as early as Monday morning shows how quickly the focus of the investigation narrowed following the initial discovery.

Tracy Reiner, who is an actress best known for her role in A League of Their Own, was naturally in complete shock. She recently told NBC News that she had actually just spent time with her father the day before the incident for a family gathering. That makes the suddenness of this tragedy so much worse for the whole family, who must be grappling with the immense loss and the ongoing legal situation involving their son and brother.

She said, “I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.” It’s clear the shock hasn’t worn off yet. The situation is still developing, and law enforcement hasn’t released extensive details regarding Nick Reiner’s specific involvement or what charges he might face.

The fact that he was immediately taken into custody after  police found the bodies paints a very grim picture. Reiner had plans for the future, but he won’t get to do them. We hope he rests in peace.
