Robert De Niro has concerns about Trump, and Bill O’Reilly wants him investigated and arrested

Reilly doesn’t like that De Niro is exercising his free speech to criticize President Trump.

Conservative pundit Bill O’Reilly has called on the Department of Justice to investigate and potentially jail actor Robert De Niro, suggesting the actor should be made an example of for his recent comments against President Trump. This is a pretty intense situation brewing, with O’Reilly taking De Niro’s words very seriously.

De Niro, an Oscar-winning actor known for his role in The Godfather Part II, made remarks during an appearance on the podcast The Best People with Nicole Wallace. According to The Hill, he told the host, Nicolle Wallace, that Trump “will never leave” office, emphasizing that it’s up to Americans to “get rid of him.” De Niro plainly stated, “We have to make him leave.”

O’Reilly responded to these comments during his show, stating he couldn’t help but interpret De Niro’s repeated phrase, “we got to get rid of him,” as a direct threat against Trump’s life. O’Reilly openly questioned De Niro’s intentions, asking, “What do you mean by that? He’s elected. Seventy-seven million people voted for him. What’s ‘we got to get rid of him’? Are you talking about impeachment? What are you talking about?”

Then he began to spiral

During his show, O’Reilly brought up a piece of legislation that makes any “knowingly and willfully” made threat against the president or vice president a federal crime. He also highlighted two past, failed attempts to take Trump’s life, suggesting these incidents add to the potential gravity of De Niro’s statements. O’Reilly was very clear about his stance.

“I’d make an example of this guy, De Niro,” O’Reilly declared, adding that his suggestion wasn’t for vindictive or political reasons. He simply believes “enough’s enough on the threats.” O’Reilly even went as far as to say, “He better have a lawyer,” and expressed his hope that the Secret Service would bring the actor in for an interrogation.

De Niro has consistently been a vocal critic of Trump, viewing some of the president’s actions as serious threats to democracy. In his interview, he even suggested that people organize at polling locations to monitor midterm elections and encouraged greater participation in “No Kings” demonstrations.

The actor was also a key headliner for a rebuttal event, organized by Courier Newsroom and other progressive groups, following Trump’s State of the Union address. At that event, De Niro expressed his deep concerns, saying, “I feel betrayed by my country.” He further elaborated that while the country doesn’t have to be perfect, it “does need to return to the values that gave us our strength and humanity.”

He isn’t the first person with serious concerns about the President. Recently, Lisa Rinna, who worked with Trump in The Apprentice, stated that “there were no signs back then that he’d become the monster he is today.”
