Shawn Mendes taking his shirt off next to a waterfall is the Mental Health Month reminder I never knew I needed

It's kind of annoying how hot he is.

There’s something going on today that has the potential to make your bad day better and maybe push your good day into great. Give your eyes a little treat and take in pop star and thirst trap Shawn Mendes meandering through the desert shirtless and glistening in the sun. Added bonus: he’s advocating for mental health.

Mendes shared a series of photos on Instagram sure to send his fans into a tizzy and make him some new ones. I can already see someone saying, “wait, he makes music too?”

Mendes, despite being chiseled from marble, seems to be a pretty down-to-Earth guy. So much so, in fact, that he likes to lose himself in it when he’s having “bad anxiety” and mental health care issues. “Sometimes I just need to REST & go into nature for a little bit.” He left out “and look really hot while I do it.”

Am I a Shawn Mendes fan? I am not, although I do have “Mercy” on a playlist and I listen to it occasionally. The man can sing, what do you want me to say? Mendes ends his message with “I hope you’re doing okay #mentalhealthmonth.”

Love him or hate him, Mendes is actually doing some good into the world, or at least trying to. And honestly, he’s right. A little mental health self-care goes a long way. More honesty: how unfair is it that Mendes looks like a Greek statue and also has an incredible singing voice? How is it that some of us win the genetic lottery and some of us are resigned to driving our exes to the airport? Not fair.
