At this point in time, it would feel undoubtedly odd to not discover Stephen King involved in an online beef in the year 2023. From holding Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene accountable for incoherent ramblings about the Biden family to taking jibes at both Kevin McCarthy and Donald Trump in the same breath, it’s obvious that nobody in politics is safe from the wrath of King — especially when it comes to Senator Ted Cruz.
Over on his official Twitter account, where all of his online beefs are well documented, King kickstarted his morning in an emphatic way by telling Cruz to “go back to Cancun.” Refusing to keep the gloves above the belt, King was initially responding to a recent interview where the Texas Senator discussed President Biden and the current U.S. debt limit. Of course, one can only assume that the 75-year-old novelist is referring to Cruz’s “family vacation” back in 2021, where the senator seemingly fled his state to take a relaxing vacation in Mexico while the majority of Texas was left to endure widespread disaster — including unfathomable power outages and freezing cold temperatures. To put it bluntly: Cruz was wearing short sleeves and enjoying the sunny skies while millions of Texans were struggling.
That being said, you get the feeling that King is making a case for the fact that Cruz only cares about Americans when it’s beneficial for him. This left the acclaimed horror author with the chance to insist that the 52-year-old senator head back to Cancun, where he obviously prioritizes “vacation” escapes over fighting for Texans.
