Taylor Swift’s wedding to NFL player Travis Kelce has become the center of online debate after reports said an executive connected to a company with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement contracts was among the guests. The ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3, 2026, and drew around 1,000 guests.
Steven J. Demetriou, executive chair of Amentum Holdings, was reportedly seen at the event, according to multiple news outlets, including Page Six and Metro. Fact-checking site Snopes, however, said it had not received direct confirmation of his attendance and left the claim unrated as of its report. Taylor Swift and Jason Kelce are yet to release an official list of their guests.
The reports about Demetriou’s presence have led some social media users to question Swift’s political views and her long-standing silence on political topics, based on posts circulating online.
Reports link wedding guest to company holding ICE detention contract
According to International Business Times, Demetriou is executive chair of Amentum Holdings, whose subsidiary, Amentum Services, holds a federal contract tied to operations at Camp East Montana, an ICE detention facility in El Paso, Texas.
This contract, awarded in March 2026, is listed on the U.S. government spending website at $452.9 million and is described as covering “detention, transportation and medical services” at the facility. The contract is reportedly set to expire in September 2026.
Demetriou appeared to attend the wedding with his wife and son, Steve Demetriou Jr., an Ohio Republican state representative. Metro, a U.K. newspaper, quoted Demetriou Jr. as telling reporters the wedding was “epic, great and life-changing.” In another report, the Kelce family reportedly found the wedding overwhelming while an insider claims they watched their son surrender his phone and sign NDAs.
Reports have also noted that Demetriou has a personal connection to the Kelce family through his adoptive son, former basketball player Reggie King, who has reportedly been a close friend of Travis Kelce since childhood. It is not officially known who invited Demetriou to the wedding or whether his attendance was connected to his role at Amentum.
The claim originated from a photograph published by Page Six, which identified one of the men in its wedding photos as “Steven J. Demetriou.” Snopes said it compared this photo to Demetriou’s profile picture on Amentum Services‘ website and noted a resemblance, though it said it still awaited direct confirmation.
Social media users also reacted to the reports by criticizing Swift’s public silence on political issues.
One comment on X read, “Well now we know why she didn’t say anything when ICE used her music.” It is not clear from available reports whether Swift was personally responsible for inviting Demetriou.
Another commenter wrote, “It’s rare to see a mature Swiftie. It’s good that some are finally realizing how messed up Taylor is. She’s a silent MAGA supporter who just got exposed for inviting an ICE contractor.” Some social media reportedly went further, with one widely shared post claiming Swift “invited the entire Epstein client list to her wedding.”
Not all reactions online were critical. Some commenters argued that inviting someone with professional ties to government contracts should not automatically be read as an endorsement of any particular policy. Others said public figures with Swift’s level of fame are likely to face scrutiny over the people connected to their events.
Amentum’s government contracts reportedly extend beyond the ICE-related agreement. The company also holds a $745.6 million contract for “aircraft maintenance and logistics support services” for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to the U.S. government spending website.
Amentum and affiliated entities have also reportedly been named in past legal and regulatory matters, including disputes related to employment and government contracting practices. A similar legal fight is unfolding in Georgia, where a town is digging up an argument that might change ICE detention center battles.
