The internet went wild when “Red (Taylor’s Version)” was released and it was reported that some fans sent hateful messages to Jake Gyllenhaal. So, in preparation for the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in July, Taylor Swift has a message for the “keyboard warriors” who have their eyes locked on their next target.
During the Eras Tour, Swift spoke about the kindness and positive energy her fans had throughout the U.S. leg. She was aware of the friendships made during those magical nights and expressed her desire for that to continue outside of her shows. She urges fans that once Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is released, they should simply appreciate it for the songs and see it as her way of reclaiming ownership of her music. She also told fans that she doesn’t care about “what happened to her when she was 19 years old,” except for the fact that she released this album and that there were people out there who enjoyed it.
Just like her other albums, Speak Now has songs that allegedly targeted Swift’s ex-lovers. One of them was John Mayer, who many believe to be the point of reference in the song ‘Dear John.’ Since Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was announced, former Twilight star Taylor Lautner commented on being referenced in the song ‘Back to December.’ In an interview with Today, he claimed that “he’s safe” and that he really liked the album.
He’s also aware of what’s going to happen to Mayer once it drops and said that he would be “praying” for him. Additionally, the actor released a TikTok video just days after the announcement of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), with the caption #PrayForJohn, knowing that fans would be after Mayer once the album drops.
Mayer has not made any comments since the album was announced. Hopefully, Swift’s message to her fans that night will put the singer’s mind at ease once Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) drops on July 7, 2023.
