For context, Majors is currently facing assault and harassment charges following his arrest this year after an alleged domestic dispute ensued between the actor and a female partner. Since then, the 33-year-old, who continues to maintain his innocence, has recently attended a court hearing, and been dropped from various projects and brand deals. In addition to his current legal woes, other parties have accused Majors of abuse.

During a recent interview with VladTV, Kirkland opened up about the abuse claims surrounding Majors and how disappointed he was. The 62-year-old revealed that prior to Majors’ controversy, he was in awe of the star’s performance in Creed III alongside Michael B. Jordan, so much so that he saw the film about ten times. Kirkland stated,

“That hurt me man…I went to see Creed III myself and I know I made them rich. I went to see it nine, ten times… At the theater.”

Further in the conversation, Kirkland described his favorite scene in the film, when Majors’ character Damian Anderson and Jordan’s Adonis Creed got into an argument, and Creed challenged to fight Anderson for the world title. After the incident, Anderson would appear on First Take with Stephen A. Smith, and Creed would call into the show, leading to another heated exchange. Kirkland said,

“It’s a part when Creed get upset with Jonathan and he says he wants to fight him for the [world title]. They have this argument because he feels like he got played. He goes on First Take in the movie with Stephen A. Smith. While they’re there Stephen A. Smith said ‘hold on, we have a phone call coming in.’ Creed is on there trying to give his opinion on the fight cause the guy just lost. So Jonathan Majors comes and says ‘what you need a hug?’ He said, ‘everybody know you a fraud and your father would be disappointed in you right now.'”

Following Majors’ character statement in the film, the challenge for the heavyweight title is brought up again to see who is the best boxer between both men. This time, both parties could be heard agreeing to settle their differences in the ring as they said to each other, “run it.”

Kirkland would say that the particular moment in Creed III sold him on the project because of the actors’ delivery and the scene’s angles. Kirkland also added that he could appreciate films like Rocky and Creed because they showcase a person’s determination to accomplish a goal in life. He stated,

“They were both going back saying that word and the way they did the angle of the cut God damn it I was in… So I go back to that movie to see that part every time because what Rocky movies do to me ladies and gentlemen is that I really cry… Let me tell you why, because of determination. Determination is in me and when I see a movie from Rocky to Creed not giving up, to do what’s necessary to win in life. To sacrifice whatever it is, to sacrifice in life, that’s TK Kirkland.”

At this time, it is reported that Majors’ next court appearance is scheduled for June 13.
