‘The Crown’ star joins the remake of a classic horror that finally climbed out of development hell

A remake decades in the making.

Emma Corrin has joined the cast of the literal century-in-the-making remake of Nosferatu, with them hitching their belt onto the classic horror reimagining.

Stuck in various stages of development hell for several decades, the project looks finally set to see the light of day. According to a report from Deadline, The Crown actor Corrin has joined the cast of the upcoming Robert Eggers remake. Eggers, best known for his work on thriller-horror projects such as The Witch and The Lighthouse, is also attached to write and produce the remake.

Nosferatu was originally released in 1922 and was an unauthorized German version of Bram Stroker’s Dracula. One of the biggest trailblazing films for horror and silent cinema in general, nearly all copies of the film were destroyed due to the legalities surrounding its similarities to Stroker’s original.

Eggers has been working on his adaptation since 2015, with it originally seeing his frequent collaborator Anya Taylor-Joy involved in a lead role. Taylor-Joy dropped out, and Lily-Rose Depp took her spot on the cast. It’s not quite clear who Corrin will play, with Depp almost a certainty to play Ellen Hutter.

Corrin is openly non-binary, so opens up a few more potential roles they could play. Barbarian star Bill Skarsgård is attached to play Count Orlock, but perhaps Corrin could portray Thomas Hutter in a slight mix-up from the original film.

There is no release date set for Eggers’ Nosferatu remake, although it is confirmed to be the director’s next film.
