According to The NY Post, the 50-year-old actress shared this story for the first time on The Graham Norton Show, 2025. She was talking about hosting the October 30, 2004 episode of SNL, where 53-year-old Eminem was the musical guest.

Winslet told the audience that Eminem came up to her with a very strange request. She said the rapper asked her, “Will you shave my butt?” Even after 20 years, she still seemed shocked by the question. When the audience and Norton laughed, Winslet made it clear the story was real.

She explained exactly what she told Eminem when he made the request. “I’m sorry, I don’t do personal grooming,” she said. Then she added what she was thinking at the time: “Like what? I’m not gonna go with a Bic and get your crack love. Honestly!”

It makes sense why Winslet hasn’t hosted SNL again since that night. The whole experience was already stressful even before Eminem’s unusual question. The actress has been open about her experiences with body shaming in Hollywood over the years.

She only had 24 hours to prepare for the show while promoting the movie Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp. She also had to sing and tap dance during the episode, which added more pressure.

The timing made things even harder for Winslet. She was hosting just one week after Ashlee Simpson’s famous lip-syncing mistake on the show. Simpson, now 41, got caught lip-syncing on live TV the week before, which caused a big problem for NBC.

Simpson later explained in February 2024 that she didn’t plan to use a prerecorded track. She had lost her singing voice because of vocal problems.
