Tom Cruise is making Scientology look incredibly appealing thanks to his latest ‘Mission Impossible’ trailer

We'd have to ask Tom, but Scientology might be responsible for keeping this guy running for the past 40 years.

Tom Cruise is 60-years-old. Let that sink in for a second. At 60, Cruise continues to break the mold. He’s doing things that younger actors can’t even wrap their heads around — heck, he’s doing things that actors his own age can’t even conceptualize.

Now, as the first part of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning gets ready to release in theaters this July, a new trailer for the film has kickstarted the internet’s long-standing desire to watch Tom Cruise run as fast as he can. Again.

Some of you have grandparents that are around 60. Some of you are 60, and there’s nothing wrong with that either. 60 is the new 50 as I always say. In spite of all the anecdotes though, what are most 60-year-olds up to right now? Crosswords? Gardening? Vacationing in Florida? Tom Cruise is jumping motorcycles off of cliffs for real, and then turning around, ready to go again.

Which, now that I think about it, signifies some sort of mental inhibitor that simply convinces Cruise he’s actually all these characters that he plays. It’s the only logical explanation. Frankly, Tom Cruise is such a badass that it makes us all forget that he’s also a Scientologist, and although there’s nothing wrong with that — it’s no secret that Scientology isn’t exactly the poster child for organized religion.

Filled with inconsistencies, contradictions and rumors of abusive culture, Scientology is (at the very least) a mixed bag. Oddly enough though, seeing Tom Cruise accomplish all these death-defying feats at his age makes me think there might be something to it after all. Maybe L. Ron Hubbard was on to something. …Probably not, but maybe. If buying in to all the supposed gobbledygook is what stands between me and the ability to have Tom Cruise levels of freedom when I’m 60, then sign me up.
