Happy Birthday to Emily Blunt! The actress celebrates her 40th birthday today, a prominent birthday. Not only that, but 2023 also marks 20 years of the actress on our screen according to her IMDb page which lists her first move as the television movie Boudica which was released in 2003. Fans are sending the actress well wishes on her birthday, though they have one issue — why hasn’t she received an Oscar nomination yet?
Though the actress had been working for some time she first came to global fame playing the fantastically cutting Emily in The Devil Wears Prada, whose outfits were almost as sharp as her barbed retorts. The film became a classic thanks to the phenomenal performance given by the entire cast, but Blunt’s portrayal of the fashion-obsessed, snarky assistant to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly won people over completely.
Though the film is over a decade old it is still relevant in pop culture today, especially after Emily in Paris came to Netflix with many crying out that the only Emily who should have been allowed to go was Blunt’s (at least then we would have gotten a better wardrobe).
Since then she has gone on to give a number of incredible performances including her roles in The Young Victoria, Sicario, and A Quiet Place, and yet no recognition from the Academy Awards despite winning numerous awards from other award bodies such as the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild. Now fans aren’t having any of that and are wondering where her Oscar is.
