‘We gotta get innovative with this’: The pot meets the kettle as Michelle Rodriguez accuses Marvel of being redundant

'Fast & Furious' is pretty much Marvel with cars anyway.

For some people, superhero fatigue is a real thing, especially for Michelle Rodriguez, who’s admitted that she’s tired of seeing so many Marvel movies year after year.

In a clip shared to TikTok by MovieManiacs, Rodriquez is shown speaking to a reporter about “redundant” Marvel movies. We can practically hear the entire Marvel fan base mobilizing to attack already but the actress does sort of make a point.

“Where can you go, how many Marvel movies can you make?”

To answer that question, Michelle; as long as people want more films, Marvel will continue to make them. The same way there will always be more Fast & Furious so long as Vin Diesel wants to keep making it. The actress went on to call out Marvel movies for not being innovative.

“Like come on guys, at some point we got to get innovative with this”

Marvel films have been disappointing as of late; with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thor: Love and Thunder, and pretty much most of phase 4 being a big disappointment to fans – it looks like the MCU is in trouble. Although there are still plenty who love the MCU and would disagree wholeheartedly with Rodriguez’s comments, especially considering the film franchise she’s most known for isn’t much better.

It’s a pot calling the kettle black situation and Marvel defenders didn’t miss out on the opportunity to call out the Fast X star on her hypocritical opinion. We’re on our tenth Fast & Furious movie (not counting spin-offs) and although the end is maybe in sight, we’ve got at least one more movie to go but it could be more. Although Rodriguez isn’t the only one to throw stones from glass houses as Archie comics made fun of her franchise and was rightly flamed for its Netflix Riverdale series.

But the point remains; the whole Fast franchise has just been done to death by now. Even more so than Marvel. How many movies can you make about cars? At least the MCU has some variety to it with different settings and characters and different stories told in different ways.

Although one thing you could credit the fast franchise for is being innovative with its movie titles at least. Also for a film about street racing, it’s a pretty bold decision to feature cars in space like they did in F9. You know what, now that I think about it Marvel fans are wrong, the Fast & Furious films aren’t redundant, they’re cool as hell and I think they should make another ten movies just to stick it to those superhero nerds.
