In the vein of Deadliest Catch and Life Below Zero, we love the adventure, danger, and camaraderie of these reality TV shows with grit and heart, where men put themselves in unfathomable peril in their daily jobs while we sit comfortably on our couches and partake in the action.
Primarily filmed in Canada and Alaska from 2002 to 2017, Ice Road Truckers was one such show. And these series don’t get produced without casualties. Deadliest Catch has lost a number of cast members to strokes, drug overdose, and heart attacks. Apparently, the stress of the job can affect one’s mortality in a multitude of different ways. Recently rumors have been circulating about one of the stars of the harrowing History Channel’s Ice Road Truckers.
Did Alex Debogorski die?
Thankfully, no. The Canadian truck driver is still with us. He simply “had major health issues which prompted him to change his lifestyle to a healthier way of living.” The undisclosed health event Alex experienced prompted him to become an advocate for healthy living and the addition of supplements to his diet regime. The confusion over whether Alex was no longer with us is likely due to the news surfacing of the death of his son, Andrew in 2019. Andrew — who had been diagnosed with ALS in 2017 — perished in a house fire at age 32.
What is Alex up to now?
Author of King of the Road: True Tales from a Legendary Ice Road Trucker, there’re no flies on Debogorski. According to his Facebook profile, he heroically ignored evacuation orders in his hometown of Yellowknife, Canada to aid in the wildfire effort this summer.
We are certainly happy to report that he is still active and hope to be keeping up with him in whatever capacity he shares with fans.
