In the years since Matthew McConaughey appeared in his breakout role as David Wooderson in 1993’s Dazed and Confused, the now 52-year-old actor has become one of Hollywood’s favorites.
After just under three decades in Hollywood, McConaughey has starred in more than 60 films and television series, many of which have gone on to win him awards and accolades. While he spent many of his early acting years primarily taking on comedic roles, McConaughey eventually conquered dramas, action-adventure films, and even the occasional crime biopic.
Through it all, McConaughey’s wife has been by his side. The two have been a pair since 2006, but only tied the knot a decade back, in the summer of 2012. The pair is practically the definition of a power couple, dominating both Hollywood and the modeling industry.
Matthew McConaughey’s wife
McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, dated for a full five years before becoming engaged on Christmas Day, 2011. They tied the knot a few months later, during June of 2012. They’ve been happily married ever since, and share three children between them.
Camila, an accomplished Brazilian-American model and designer, supports her husband in his career while also dominating her own. She moved to the U.S. as a teen and soon after transitioned from Los Angeles to New York to launch her career in fashion.
The next decade saw Camila model for several massive industry brands, including Macy’s, and lend her design skills to a line of handbags. She went on to host several television programs and in 2016 launched her own lifestyle website.
As strong as their union is, though, Alves and McConaughey apparently both have trouble remembering their wedding date. It’s safe to say that they’re doing alright, alright, alright, however, seeing as they’ve been together for nearly a decade and a half.
