Batman/The Shadow #2 First Look Is Pure Pulp Poetry In Motion

If you've had the privilege of reading the first issue of the six-part Batman/The Shadow miniseries, you'd probably agree with us in saying that co-writers Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando knocked it out of the park (you can read our review here). But, that shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise given the former's sterling reputation of writing for the Dark Knight and the fact that the latter currently includes him in Justice League of America.

If you’ve had the privilege of reading the first issue of the six-part Batman/The Shadow miniseries, you’d probably agree with us in saying that co-writers Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando knocked it out of the park (you can read our review here). But, that shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise given the former’s sterling reputation of writing for the Dark Knight and the fact that the latter currently includes him in Justice League of America.

Still, it must be a challenge for any talented scribe to crack the formula for a crossover, especially one that entails two separate publishers coming together. But fortunately for all involved – as well as we the readers – the first installment went off without a hitch, successfully planting the seeds of a great murder mystery starring two dark vigilantes.

Sure, the next chapter may be several weeks away from seeing release, but DC Entertainment has thankfully allowed us to bring you this first look. It could be said that this is an unlettered preview, as such is often the case with these things if they hit the web more than a week before the actual issue ships, but from what we can tell, the scene depicted could easily have no dialogue at all. No matter which proves to be true, you have to hand it to artist Riley Rossmo for stepping up his game as a visual storyteller, as the images provided here succeed in telling a tale, regardless.

Batman/The Shadow #2 arrives in comic shops on May 24. For more information, be sure to check out the official synopsis below:

The second chapter in the historic team-up of history’s greatest vigilantes is here! The Shadow must convince Batman of his innocence so the two can seek out their true common foe, the Stag, before he takes out Batman’s greatest allies. Co-published with Dynamite Entertainment.
