Exclusive Preview: Hope Springs Eternal In Superman #41

Being a huge fan of Superman myself, you can only imagine how excited I am for what 2018 has in store for Big Blue, be it the start of the Brian Michael Bendis era or otherwise. Still, that doesn't mean I'm going to take my eyes off the present, because there's still a lot going on in the current run of the book.

If you’ve been keeping up with the character’s flagship titles in recent years, then you’re well aware that the Man of Tomorrow has really been put through the wringer. And it’s because of learning that his father, Jor-El, was actually Mr. Oz – among other things that have happened – that he’s taken it upon himself to embark on adventures that are a bit out of his way.

Speaking of which, the currently unfolding story penned by superstar scribe James Robinson sees Superman and Superboy venturing to an alien planet that’s about to meet its doom, much like Krypton did. Not only can parallels to our hero’s own tragic past be drawn here, but there’s also a thinly veiled allegory that warns us of the dangers we could endure should we not listen to science and reason.

In the accompanying gallery, you’ll learn a little more about all this via the first handful of pages from next week’s issue. And while you’re perusing, be sure to savor Ed Benes’ artwork for all it’s worth. In addition to putting so much detail into the characters themselves, his rendering of this foreign world is truly something to behold.
