With Monsters Unleashed launching very shortly, Marvel is pulling out all the stops to grab the attention of readers everywhere. As such, they’re offering a cool look inside the new limited series brought to us by writer Cullen Bunn (Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe) and artist Steve McNiven (Civil War).

Whenever publishers normally release previews, they offer glimpses that consist of five or six interior pages on average, with standard and variant covers also included. When it comes to Monsters Unleashed, however, they’re letting True Believers sample eleven pages.

But there’s a catch: One must apparently create an account for the Marvel App, Comixology, or the Marvel Digital Store (you can check it out here). Still, it’s free and you can’t beat that.

Paying homage to the 1970’s magazine of the same name, Monsters Unleashed will unite the Avengers, the Champions, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, the Inhumans and more against, well, colossal monsters.

Bunn had this to say to Entertainment Weekly in an interview conducted last fall:

“It’s an all hands on deck situation. Imagine something like the Hulk, only much bigger. With the destructive force those creatures have, the heroes will have to mobilize much more quickly. The heroes find themselves very quickly in a situation where they have no downtime, they have no chance to take a breath. They’re moving constantly against what are essentially cataclysmic threats over and over again.”

Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso added:

“All of these artists are associated with huge scale superhero action, and we’ll be giving them room to breathe. There will be plenty of two-page spreads and splashes so the book feels as big as it is. Each issue is 30 pages long, which will allow for that. Why the monsters are here now and what they want, is gonna be part of the fun of the story. For people who say they want to see heroes fighting villains, well, here you go. This is the Marvel Universe being momentarily united to deal with this common threat, because if they don’t get united, there’s going to be no Marvel Universe to live in. So that’s an interesting dynamic right there.”

Monsters Unleashed arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, January 18.
