Well, it looks like you’ll have to wait slightly longer before getting your hands on one of those glow in the dark Cosmic Cubes because the Secret Empire shipping schedule has been slightly amended. You see, the sixth issue to make up Marvel’s currently unfolding major event has undergone some changes, which we’ll get into right now.
The first we’ll discuss is that of a higher page count, which will, of course, increase the price point of the issue in question. Having inflated from 40 pages to 48, expect to pay $4.99 as opposed to $3.99 for this baby when it hits stands. Sure, one dollar doesn’t seem like much, but comic book collectors often pick up more than one title each week and, believe me, it adds up quickly. As such, some True Believers are already expressing their displeasure with the decision and have also accused those behind the title of not plotting the series well, especially considering that a tenth issue was recently added.
As for the delay, it’s not too bad given that there’s only a week difference with the book being pushed from its original release date of July 12 to July 19. Still, we wonder if this could affect the release of other Marvel titles because so many are serving as tie-ins. Therefore, if they were to ship early, the main narrative could be spoiled. But, then again, this is the same publisher that shipped Who Will Wield The Shield? before Captain America: Reborn concluded, and commenced a linewide relaunch before the constantly delayed Secret Wars wrapped.
