Doja Cat’s Met Gala look is a nod to Karl Lagerfeld’s cat — we think

The annual Met Gala fundraiser is everyone’s go-to event for all of the latest and most outlandish looks in the fashion world of the time, and the 2023 Gala so far has not disappointed in that regard. With this year’s event honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld, celebrities are dazzling on the red carpet with looks honoring the designer. Some are more subtle than others, but rapper Doja Cat has probably outdone the lot with some striking feline prosthetics. 

The“Kill Bill” artist was spotted arriving at the venue with a sparkling silver dress, complete with a hood which adds cat ears to the ensemble. Add to that a jewel strewn across her forehead and some razor-sharp nails that could tear through some curtains with ease, the look was completed with some elaborate makeup and prosthetics which gave the rapper a very cat-like nose. 

This is, of course, likely to be a nod to Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette, a white-furred tortie Birman cat with big blue eyes. The rapper’s cat nose aside, the color of her dress bore a resemblance to Choupette’s coat. Doja Cat hasn’t the only one that has made a nod (subtle or otherwise) to Lagerfeld’s cat. Chloe Fineman arrived with an adorable cat purse, meanwhile Jared Leto straight-up went down the Halloween party route by just arriving in a comically large cat suit.
