Our Favorite EDM Songs From May 2015

With the festival circuit now in full swing, May turned out to be a veritable mother lode of quality tracks from every shade of the dance music spectrum. This is the time of year at which every artist's management gives them the okay to finally drop whatever gems they've been sitting on to the public - and for good reason, as all it can take for a song to become a summer anthem is the right DJ playing it in front of the right crowd.

3) Merk & Kremont – Get Get Down

Recommended Videos

With subtler music varieties in vogue as of late, it almost seems more subversive to get behind an electro track with hard kicks and a big, chugging synth lead – so in case this isn’t cliché enough to get you to shout down at us from your ivory tower, what we say next will be: Just wait for the drop.

…No, but seriously, did you actually listen to the drop? The percussion at the end of the buildup is unreal, and makes “Get Get Down” much more than your typical festival banger. Combine that with the funky bridge later on in the track and the song stands as further evidence that Merk & Kremont know how to do electro house right.

4) Blackmill – Feel That Love Again Ft. Graham Brown

Robert Card A.K.A. Blackmill kept us waiting for years before finally releasing new music again recently. While some of it matches his entire body of previous work in that it’s melodic dubstep that sounds oddly similar to the music in the underwater levels of Donkey Kong Country, “Feel That Love Again” surprises fans with a warm, friendly tropical house groove.

Unless you’re a trop house hater, it’s actually not a bad look for Blackmill – it even still pretty much sounds like his other material, but with different percussive elements. It makes you think: Has tropical house all just been melodic dubstep with a four-four beat this whole time without us noticing?! Mind = blown.
