Our Favorite EDM Songs From May 2015

With the festival circuit now in full swing, May turned out to be a veritable mother lode of quality tracks from every shade of the dance music spectrum. This is the time of year at which every artist's management gives them the okay to finally drop whatever gems they've been sitting on to the public - and for good reason, as all it can take for a song to become a summer anthem is the right DJ playing it in front of the right crowd.

9) Sasha – Ether

Even though British progressive house DJ/producer Sasha’s legacy speaks for itself, he went on an extended hiatus from releasing any music. Following his release of “Vapourspace” earlier in the year, he proved that he would maintain his forward momentum by following it up with “Ether,” a proper progressive house track that contains many of his signature elements.

From the deep, robotic groove to the etherial vocal sample, “Ether” has made us anxious to see what else the progressive house icon has in store for his fans in the months to follow.

10) Deadmau5 And Grabbitz – BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOAT

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: This track is what you’ve been looking for. Even though it’s still just a preview under the presumably farcical working title “BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOAT,” it’s been our favorite thing to come out this month and reinforces deadmau5′ credentials as one of the leading (albeit reluctant) figures in the EDM world.

The whole of the track’s composition builds towards something more profound than just any old dance music number. Powerful verses contributed by an as yet unknown vocalist accompany atmospheric synth work and gradually build up to a divine groove, making the song an emotional journey that deadmau5 fans ought to be grateful to take part in at such an early stage in the track’s development.

Now that we’ve got more ‘mau5 on the horizon, the summer of 2015 promises to be a big one for the EDM world and we’ll be sure to keep you informed of all the latest releases along the way.
