Bus drops off dozens of identical figures in Santa Monica while confused locals try to make sense of the chaos

"I don't think I can accurately convey how MANY there were."

People in Santa Monica, California, got a big surprise when a bunch of folks dressed up as Homer Simpson showed up in their city. A bus dropped them off near a donut shop, and they spent time walking around, taking pictures with anyone who wanted one, and generally confusing everyone nearby.

According to Daily Dot, this whole thing was done to promote the new Fortnite x Simpsons season that came out earlier this month. The video game just added a Springfield map where players can hang out with characters from the show.

A digital artist named @TheCartelDel was there and posted about it on X. He said nobody told the local people this was going to happen. “I’m guessing the Fortnite x Simpsons event is the reason a literal bus load of Homer’s just got dropped off in Santa Monica without any prior warning,” he wrote. He also said, “I don’t think I can accurately convey how MANY there were.”

People online thought it was pretty funny

The Homers hung out at a donut shop, which makes sense since Homer loves donuts on the show. Videos from that day show all these people in yellow costumes waving at confused locals, dancing around, and basically having a good time. A lot of people recorded it and shared the videos online.

People on social media had some good jokes about the whole thing. One person, @Oluwaphilemon1, wrote, “Great, first the economy, now Homer clones taking over Krispy Kreme. We’re finished.” Someone else named @XFunkeda said “homers taking over a donut shop is peak timeline energy.” Another user, @fnmaniac, posted “at least its busy” along with a funny meme. It was clear that people found the stunt pretty entertaining.

The promo also had other characters from the show walking around. Some people dressed up as Otto, the bus driver from The Simpsons, and there were even banana versions of Professor Frink. Matt Groening, who created The Simpsons, actually showed up too, not in a costume but as himself.

This team-up between Fortnite and The Simpsons is a pretty big deal for both the game and the TV show. The Simpsons has been on TV longer than any other sitcom ever made, and it’s still going strong. Now younger people who play Fortnite can interact with these characters in a whole new way.

What happened in Santa Monica shows how companies are getting creative with their advertising these days. Instead of just putting up billboards or running TV ads, they’re doing these big real-world events that get people talking.

When you drop a bunch of Homers in the middle of a city, people are going to film it, share it online, and talk about it. The people who make The Simpsons have always been good at finding new ways to stay popular with audiences, and this stunt was another example of that.
