Elon Musk’s top man felled in freak fried chicken accident, now ‘can barely’ swallow or speak

The Colonel sends his regards.

All evidence suggests that Nikita Bier is a very intelligent man. He founded viral social apps tbh and Gas, which were acquired by Facebook and Discord, respectively, and was tapped by Elon Musk himself to be Head of Product at X (as well as Product Growth Partner at Lightspeed).

By all accounts, Bier is someone you want in your corner when it comes to running a successful social media. But, perhaps, he’s not someone you necessarily want to take out for dinner.

In a truly bizarre accident, Bier has been brought low by a humble piece of fried chicken. As reported on X, the offending morsel has rendered him barely able to speak or swallow – and a solution may be weeks away:

“Ate a piece of fried chicken tonight. It somehow tore part of my throat going down. Now I can barely swallow (or speak). Doctor says: “You can get it checked out with an endoscopy. Earliest availability is in 4-6 weeks.” This feels like a Kafka novel.”

Mm-hm. “The guy who ate fried chicken wrong” must be one of Kafka’s lesser works.

This is not an isolated incident

Strangely, this isn’t even Bier’s first encounter with swallowing food wrong. In 2023, he ended up hospitalized after getting a chunk of steak stuck in his throat, ending up in the ER:

Is Bier even chewing his food? Did he learn to eat by observing a python? Is his throat freakishly narrow and delicate? We may never know the answers to these questions though, if nothing else, he needs to up his mastication game.

I guess I hope he makes a good recovery, but given this strange history of eating-related mishaps, anyone dining with him should probably bone up on their heimlich manoever, as it seems that each mealtime Bier is gambling with his life.
