A TikTok user’s friend walked outside his house and found out someone had stolen the shingles right off his roof. Mike Pavliukov, who goes by @mikesfun42 on TikTok, recorded the moment his friend realized what happened. The video shows the friend standing outside, staring up at his stripped roof in disbelief.
According to Bro Bible, the homeowner said in the clip, “I’m so shocked, dude.” Pavliukov explained the situation simply, saying, “Someone just stole his roof shingles.” The video then shows police cars arriving at the scene to take a report. After filing the report, the friend ended up replacing the shingles himself, though it’s unclear why he didn’t use insurance or hire professionals for such a big job.
Pavliukov later hinted in the comments that a roofing company might be responsible. He claimed the company first denied any involvement but started to panic after learning there was video proof. This points to possible corporate negligence, though it still doesn’t explain why they touched his roof in the first place.
A roofing company’s mistake can leave homeowners scrambling
The video has gotten over 180k views, and people were shocked. One commenter wrote, “I beg your pardon, stole a roof!?” Another joked that the police probably thought, “they stole WHAT.” Someone else said calling 911 to report your missing roof must be really awkward.
Viewers tried to figure out what happened. Many think a roofing crew messed up. One commented: “Roofing crew did the wrong house and realized it before they got the shingles on lmao I would go to whoever got the new roof close by.”
This isn’t the only strange discovery people have made recently, as an American was shocked by robotic legs he found in China.
Roof shingle theft is actually more common than most people think, especially during busy roofing seasons. Certain roofing materials are popular targets for thieves. When shingles go missing, you need to act quickly because exposed areas can lead to leaks, mold, and expensive damage to your home’s structure.
After calling the police, you should cover the exposed section with a heavy-duty tarp right away. Keep all receipts for temporary repairs because your insurance company might pay you back. You’ll need a police report to document what happened, then contact your insurance company to check your coverage and deductible.
An adjuster will likely need to inspect the damage. Strange mail from companies can also catch people off guard, like when a man received a shocking letter from Nissan asking to borrow his truck.
To avoid this problem, consider installing a home security system or outdoor cameras. They can scare off thieves or alert you if someone is messing with your property. If you’re getting a new roof, ask the installer to bring materials on the same day work starts so expensive shingles aren’t left outside overnight where thieves can grab them.
