According to UPI, this guy used birthdays from his family for years to choose lottery numbers. But he never won anything big. So he got tired of it and decided to try a new way. His new plan was pretty simple. While driving, he would clear his thoughts and just pick whatever numbers popped into his head first.

This new way of doing things worked out really well. On November 11, he won $5,000 from a Pick 4 game. Then the next day, he found out something even bigger happened. His Pick 5 ticket won him $50,000. The winning numbers were 2-1-7-3-7, and they came to him while he was on his way to work on November 12.

The man told people at the Maryland Lottery that the numbers just came to him one by one while he was driving. “The numbers popped into my head as I was driving to work, one at a time, 2-1-7-3-7,” he said. When he stopped at a traffic light, he grabbed his phone and typed them in so he wouldn’t forget.

He bought his ticket at a store called Chadwick Liquors on Security Boulevard. That night, after he finished his second job delivering food, he checked the lottery app on his phone. All five numbers matched perfectly.

When he realized he won $50,000, he could barely believe it. “I couldn’t sit still. I’d been working since 5 that morning, but the thought of $50,000 filled me with energy,” he told lottery officials. The timing was perfect for this guy who works really hard at two different jobs, kind of like a New Jersey couple who won twice in six months.

He already knows what he wants to do with the money. The winner works as a mechanic and wants to open his own car repair shop with his fiancee. “We still have a long way to go, but this puts us so much farther ahead for the year than I ever could have hoped,” he said.

The store where he bought the ticket will get $500 from the Maryland Lottery as a bonus. Getting $55,000 total from two wins in two days is huge for this Baltimore man who juggles multiple jobs to reach his goals. Stopping with the birthday numbers and going with his gut feeling turned out to be the best choice he could have made, showing that sometimes a simple ticket purchase can change everything.
