Man wants to sue the 2 people who gave him everything. His reason is they never asked for his consent first

A businessman from Mumbai, India, wants to sue his own parents. His reason might sound strange to many people. Raphael Samuel says his parents should not have given birth to him because they never asked if he wanted to be born.

Samuel follows a belief called anti-natalism. People who believe in this think that having children is wrong because life has too much pain and suffering. Samuel knows that parents cannot ask an unborn baby for permission. But he still thinks people should stop having kids altogether. He believes the world would be a better place without humans. Animals and the earth would be happier, he says.

Samuel spoke to the BBC about why he feels this way. He said bringing children into the world is wrong because they have to deal with suffering their whole lives. He wants other people in India to know that kids do not owe their parents anything. Samuel thinks that since nobody asked to be born, parents should pay their children to live.

His parents are taking it well

The funny thing is that Samuel gets along great with his parents. Both of them work as lawyers. His mom, Kavita Karnad Samuel, seems to have a good sense of humor about the whole thing. 

She said she has to respect her son for wanting to sue his parents when he knows they are both lawyers. She told him that if he can come up with a way they could have asked him before he was born, then she will admit she was wrong.

Samuel started a Facebook page called Nihilanand. On the page, he wears a fake beard and sunglasses to hide his face. He posts messages that question why people have children. Some of his posts ask if forcing a child into the world is like kidnapping. People have different reactions to what he posts. Some support him, but most people disagree. A few have even told him to harm himself.

Samuel said he started thinking this way when he was just five years old. One day he did not want to go to school. His parents kept telling him to go, so he asked them why they had him in the first place. His dad could not give him an answer. 

Samuel thinks that if his father had explained it better back then, maybe he would not feel this way now. While Samuel’s views represent an unusual take on family relationships, they contrast sharply with the bond many parents share with their children.

When Samuel told his mom that he was going to sue her, she did not get upset. She just said that was fine, but she would not make it easy for him. She told him she would destroy him in court. His mom also said she wished she could have met him before he was born. 

If she had, she definitely would not have had him. She explained that she was young when she became pregnant and did not know she had other choices. Her approach to parenting differs greatly from parents who find unique ways to connect with their kids.

Samuel is trying to find a lawyer who will take his case. So far, nobody wants to help him. He knows that no judge will actually hear the case in court. But he still wants to file it because he wants to make people think about this issue.

His ideas come from a philosopher named David Benatar. Benatar wrote a book called Better Never to Have Been. In the book, he argues that being born always causes harm to the person who gets born.
