Security camera videos show 59-year-old Daniel “Dan” Davis walking through strangers’ yards in a confused state. The father from Merrionette Park near Chicago has been missing since late November after he was in a car accident and refused medical help.
According to The Sun, Davis works at a bar and is known for sticking to his daily routine. His family says he doesn’t have any medical conditions that would explain why he suddenly disappeared. They are very worried because this behavior is completely unlike him.
The incident began on November 24, around 11:15 PM, when Davis crashed his car. Police didn’t think anyone was drunk, but the accident report said Davis likely hit his head during the crash. After his car was towed away, a sheriff’s deputy drove him to his workplace at 115 Bourbon Street, where he has worked for nearly 25 years.
The surveillance videos paint a troubling picture of confusion
Chicago police say Davis left the bar around 1:15 AM on November 25. Security cameras later captured him wandering through neighborhoods instead of going home. His daughter Wendy says the family has collected about ten different videos showing her father looking very disoriented.
“We have like 10 different videos [of him] walking around pretty disoriented,” Wendy told reporters. “He’s walking a bit crooked and seems confused,” she added. Davis even stopped strangers on the street to ask for directions back to his own workplace. Head injuries from car accidents can cause serious disorientation, as seen in cases of severe crash injuries.
The security cameras helped track his movements across the area. On November 26 around 3:00 PM, someone spotted him on Old Western Avenue in Blue Island, Illinois. Later that evening around 6:30 PM, cameras recorded him near St. Donatus Church on South Union Street. Police have not seen him since that last sighting.
Authorities issued an endangered missing person alert as days passed. The family and neighbors started their own intensive search. Wendy called the situation a “two-week-long roller coaster that still has yet to actually feel real.” She thanked the community for their massive support, saying her dad “would never believe just how many people have joined together for him.”
The search continues across Merrionette Park and Blue Island. Family and locals are handing out flyers, sharing posts on social media, and checking security cameras. Car accidents can have devastating consequences, including tragic crashes that result in fatalities. Wendy is asking everyone to keep checking their doorbell and security footage for any sign of her father. She said simply, “Giving up is not an option.”
