Pei Chung, known as Brooklyn’s “dine-and-dash queen,” was kicked out of her luxury apartment in Williamsburg. Her landlord, former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, officially evicted her. The strange part is that Chung is currently in jail and probably has no idea she just lost her expensive home.
According to Fox News, Chung is behind bars facing charges for not paying bills after eating expensive meals at fancy restaurants. She loves showing off designer clothes from Cartier, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry on social media. But she couldn’t pay her $3,350 monthly rent.
Court records show Chung was a problem tenant who never paid rent on time. Her apartment was at 416 Kent Ave. Her lease ended in August 2024, but she stayed in the apartment anyway. When her lease expired, she already owed around $8,000. She kept living there for months after that, so court papers say her total unpaid rent might be over $50,000.
Her designer lifestyle couldn’t save her from this eviction disaster
City Marshal Robert Renzulli’s office carried out the eviction on without any problems. Renzulli spent about an hour changing the locks. Since Chung was in jail, the apartment was empty during the whole process. “The apartment was vacant,” Renzulli said. “The young lady was not there. The eviction is completed.”
All of Chung’s belongings are still inside the apartment. Renzulli said her furniture, clothes, and bedding were left in the unit. City rules say the landlord must keep abandoned items for 30 days before throwing them away. “The general rule is that the landlord can dispose of the belongings, but in this case, I’m sure they’ll be speaking to their attorneys before they do anything like that,” Renzulli explained. This isn’t the first time someone has exploited luxury buildings for personal gain.
Money problems weren’t the only issue. Neighbors say that Chung was a difficult tenant. They reported frequent outbursts, visible fights, and mess in the hallway. Building manager Bob Jenny said Chung often left trash in the hallway and made too much noise.
Jenny stated in court documents that management knew about the problem and had an active legal case against her. He said the NYPD was called to the building many times because of her, but nothing improved long-term. Her repeated restaurant payment schemes had already made headlines before this eviction.
Chung became famous after being arrested at least 10 times for allegedly not paying for expensive restaurant meals. Now the woman who loved showing off luxury items on social media has lost her own luxury apartment while sitting in jail.
