Texas driver arrested for intentionally crashing his car into a Kroger at 4 a.m.; his reason for doing so was unhinged but somehow understandable

Texas police arrested a man in the early hours of Sunday morning after he allegedly crashed his car through the front entrance a Kroger grocery store on purpose. When later questioned about why he did so, the man claimed that he needed to use the bathroom, police stated.

The unidentified man crashed his vehicle through the front of the store in Rosenberg, Texas, just before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. According to The New York Post, the crash caused extensive damage to the Kroger store, with images showing shattered glass and extensive damage to the metal doors, with one hanging out of the door frame. The car, which appears to be a grey Chevrolet HHR, can be seen parked inside the store.

The man reportedly crashed the car because he was upset over the doors being locked overnight. In a statement on Facebook, Rosenberg police said that “On Sunday, September 27th, at approximately 0428, a known male individual intentionally accelerated into Kroger, causing extensive damage to the pharmacy entrance.”

When you gotta go, you gotta go

Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the man, who was only described as being a 60-year-old man, had “needed to use the restroom.” The statement ends by making light of the situation and offering advice to readers: “When you gotta go, you gotta go, but we strongly advise finding a store open for business.”

It seems that, rather than finding another business with an open toilet, or even finding a nearby bush to relieve himself, the man opted for the more dramatic option of ramming his car through the front of the Kroger grocery store.

People commenting on Facebook also saw the funny side, some understood the man’s apparent desperation to use the bathroom, while others couldn’t wrap their head around it. “The full moon makes people act up,” quipped one commenter. “Must not be from here cause we got patches of grass everywhere you gotta go you gotta go,” pointed out a second. Meanwhile, a third asked the pressing question: “So, did the driver make it to the restroom or what?”

Police did not clarify whether the man made it to the bathroom or not. However, the department did confirm with Fox 26 that the man had been arrested on criminal mischief charges. This charge generally requires proof that a property was damaged by an individual. Judging by the photos, it seems there is quite a bit of proof of the damage allegedly caused by the man.
