Most flights are pretty boring. People get on the plane, put their stuff away, and wait to take off. But one woman from Atlanta got way more than she expected on her last flight. She overheard something between two flight attendants that made her do a double take.

Rachael Elizabeth makes TikTok videos online, and she was just sitting on her flight like normal. Then she heard two flight attendants talking to each other near her seat. One of them said something that made Rachael’s jaw drop. It was a pretty honest take on the pilots who were flying the plane that day.

“She said, I never trust anything that the pilots say. They lie about everything, their wives, the weather,” Rachael explained in her TikTok video later. That part about wives really threw her off. She posted the video asking if pilots really cheat on their wives with flight attendants. More than 63,000 people have watched it so far, and lots of them had opinions.

Turns out there might be something to it

People who work in airlines say that pilots and flight attendants hooking up is actually pretty common. One flight attendant who has been doing the job for more than 10 years said she has seen it happen a lot. She talked about coworkers getting together in hotels during layovers and flirting on planes.

The thing is, these people spend a ton of time together. They work long flights, stay at the same hotels, and deal with weird schedules that most people do not understand. When you are away from home that much and dealing with the same stress as someone else, it makes sense that some people get close. A lot of experienced flight attendants even warn new workers to stay away from dating pilots, but plenty of people ignore that advice.

Airlines usually do not have rules against pilots and flight attendants dating each other. Some airlines tell people not to date someone who is their boss because that can cause problems. But most places let it happen. Studies show that 31 percent of people who cheat do it with someone they work with. Workplace situations can become awkward quickly, especially when romance gets mixed up with doing your job.

Flight attendants actually break up and get divorced more than most other workers in transportation jobs. That does not always mean cheating is the reason though. Being away from home all the time, working crazy hours, and barely sleeping can wreck any relationship. Pilots have a 30 percent divorce rate, which is actually lower than you might think.

Not every pilot or flight attendant is cheating, but the job makes it easier if someone wants to. One person who commented on the video said, “Not all pilots are cheaters, but the ones that are cheaters are serial cheaters.” Sometimes discovering the truth about what others are up to can lead to some really uncomfortable moments.
