Activision Addresses Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Launch Woes

The years haven't been kind to Tony Hawk in the gaming scene. This year's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 marks the first main entry in the skateboarding series since 2007's Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, but mere days after launch, the game is already under fire for its collection of glitches – some of them breaking it entirely.

The years haven’t been kind to Tony Hawk in the gaming scene. This year’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 marks the first main entry in the skateboarding series since 2007’s Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, but mere days after launch, the game is already under fire for its collection of glitches – some of them breaking it entirely.

In a statement to Eurogamer, Activision promises that it’s working with developers Robomodo and Disruptive Games to rectify many of the issues, which include everything from performance problems to mission markers failing to activate:

“We are aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5,” Activision stated, ” and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the Tony Hawk fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years.”

Meanwhile, Activision says that players will receive two new stages and five bonus skaters as free future updates in addition to its current eight levels.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 launched September 29th in the U.S. and is out now in the UK for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. A last-gen port for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 is due this November 13th.
