Earlier today, Nintendo announced that a special Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct would go live tomorrow, November 2nd. Those looking for information on the future of the popular franchise, though, may be in for a bit of a disappointment.

Instead of focusing on how the series will look on the recently unveiled Switch, or what the previously announced mobile edition entails, the Nintendo Direct will focus on the latest updates to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The upcoming patch for the title is set to introduce amiibo card and figure support to players’ villages. Support for the accessories is not just limited to characters from the series, though, as most amiibo’s will unlock new content for the Nintendo 3DS title.

The Nintendo Direct comes a month before the publisher will re-release Animal Crossing: New Leaf under the Welcome amiibo subtitle. This version of the game is scheduled to arrive on December 2nd and will come packaged with one amiibo card. The re-release comes as part of the recently announced Nintendo Selects line, which discounts several popular 3DS and Wii U titles to only $19.99.

As someone who wants to know where the series will go in the future, this Nintendo Direct is a bit of a disappointment. It would have been surprising to hear Switch-related news, but the fact that we’re still waiting to hear about the mobile iteration of the franchise is troubling. We were supposed to be getting our hands on the title by now, not waiting for any sliver of information to drop.

Regardless, you can check out tomorrow’s Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM EST. If any pertinent information regarding Animal Crossing: New Leaf is announced, we’ll be sure to let you know.
