Though already revealed via a Game Informer article, Sony and Ubisoft have officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation exclusively for the PlayStation Vita at their E3 conference.
Set in New Orleans, the game will focus on a new female assassin. It was also revealed that the game will have connectivity features with the PS3 version of Assassin’s Creed III. Those who connect the two will unlock bonus content in Liberation, including Connor’s tomahawk, a new skin, a multiplayer character, and expanded ammo slots. Liberation will also ship with a free 4GB Vita memory card.
In addition, new info on Assassin’s Creed III was given. A thrilling sequence was shown displaying new ship-based gameplay, with the player at the wheel of a ship commanding his crew to fire the cannons at enemy ships. Also, a new bundle containing both a PS3 and Assassin’s Creed III was confirmed to become available on the game’s launch day.

Handheld Game Introduces the First Female Assassin Lead, Set in Late 18th Century New Orleans
MONTRÉAL – June 4, 2012 – Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed III Liberation will be released on October 30 exclusively for the PlayStation®Vita, bringing the full Assassin’s Creed experience to a handheld device for the first time.
Developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Assassin’s Creed III Liberation includes key pillars of the franchise that fans of the series know and love, including combat, free-roaming navigation and a rich story full of intrigue and twists, delivering a true Assassin’s Creed experience to the PlayStation Vita. Gamers play as the series’ first female assassin protagonist, Aveline. A woman of conviction, Aveline is fighting for freedom in 18th century New Orleans – a city on the brink of a rebellion as the Spanish Empire imposes its new rule. Assassin’s Creed III Liberation also features Vita-specific controls, making the most of the system’s front and rear touch panels, cameras and gyroscope. These include distinctive combat, character interaction, deciphering and traversal controls – all delivering an immersive handheld Assassin’s Creed experience.
