Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Hands-On Preview [E3 2014]

Thank the heavens, because Borderlands is coming back this October, with what is likely to be its craziest and most intense instalment so far: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. It's a game that millions have been pining for, including yours truly, and it's something that we got a chance to go hands-on with today, at 2K's E3 2014 booth. Now, we can tell you all about how incredibly awesome it truly is.

Other than those new features, though, things have seemingly remained similar to the Borderlands games of yesteryear, but that’s not a bad thing. Of course, what would a new entry in the popular series be without even more guns? I mean, it’s not like the millions the other games had were enough, right? Now, we can freeze enemies and shoot lasers. Best of all is that the enemies now make an amazing glass-like sound when they shatter, which makes things even more rewarding. Add in a newly-introduced butt-stomp move and all bases have been covered.

Presentation-wise, things look and sound better than ever. Chaos is continuous, and it’s represented admirably, through unsurprisingly colourful cel-shaded visuals and more comedy than you can shake a finger at. Nothing about this game is serious, it seems, and it’s better for it.

If you’re a Borderlands fan, you won’t be let down with what looks to be an absolute blast. It’s early, so take it for what it’s worth, but this preview opportunity was easily one of the most notable and enjoyable experiences of my first day at E3. In fact, I could’ve spent the whole day playing, it if that was a possibility.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will fly to the moon on October 14, 2014, and I’ve already booked a first-class ticket on its majestic rocket.
