While we have known that Brainiac was the big bad in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham since the title was first revealed, we have known precious little about what his plan actually entails. However, thanks to a new trailer released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we now know a bit more.

In LEGO Batman 3, Brainiac, the extraterrestrial android that frequently battles Superman, has grown bored of collecting cities and simple knowledge. While you and I may be satisfied with such meager possessions, Brainiac is interested in collecting something even bigger: planets. In order to build his collection, he soon turns to the various worlds of the DC Universe, which is where are our heroes (and villains) come into play.

Even with the combined might of the Justice League and Legion of Doom looking to stop him, Brainiac is more than prepared for the challenge. With his “12th-level intellect,” he has the mental capability to place others under his possession. As we see in the trailer, even Batman isn’t safe, as he is possessed and forced to battle his close ally, Robin.

As if that action wasn’t interesting enough, we also get a glimpse at a handful of different heroes and villains during the course of the trailer. Solomon Grundy, Star Sapphire and Hawkman are just a few of the faces that show up. And to top things off, the trailer closes with a special song and dance number from everyone’s favorite psychotic clown, The Joker.

Although it does not have an official release date yet, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is expected to launch sometime this fall. The latest entry in the long-running series of Lego titles will be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC.
