Pictures of pre-order cards and posters for Bungie’s Destiny leaked all over the Internet today, well ahead of the game’s scheduled reveal this Sunday. While the leaked photos are certainly bad news for the upcoming online first-person shooter’s marketing team, they are extremely good for the rest of us who were not looking forward to the long wait until the official debut.

The leaked promotional materials (from Best Buy and GameStop) do not disclose everything there is to know about Destiny, however, they do reveal several interesting details about the shooter and confirm that it is headed to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The plot description of Destiny from the pre-order card reads:

“Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. It sparked a Golden Age when our civilization spanned out solar system, but it didn’t last. Something hit us, knocked us down. The survivors built a city beneath the Traveler, and have begun to explore our old worlds, only to find them filled with deadly foes.”

“You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield incredible power. Defend the City. Defeat our enemies. Reclaim all that we have lost. Be brave.”

In addition to the short plot summary, the Destiny pre-order cards also reveal the following key features for the shooter:

  • The next evolution of entertainment — an incredible story set within a newly-imagined, always-connected universe filled with action and adventure.
  • Create your character, forge your legend by defeating powerful foes, and earn unique and customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles.
  • Unprecedented variety of FPS gameplay that redefines the genre and breaks traditional conventions of story, cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, combined with public and social activities.

Bungie’s will officially pull back the curtain on Destiny this Sunday. We will keep you updated as additional details and (most importantly) assets are released.
